Velociraptor is a small, feathered dinosaur and one of the most well known of the dromaeosaurids. It weighed the same as a small goat and was around 1.8m in length.
Public perception of velociraptor has changed in recent times. It was famously depicted in the feature film 'Jurassic Park' as smooth skinned and approximately 6ft tall, a representation which even at the time was inaccurate. It real life, it is thought to have been much smaller and covered in feathers, especially along its arms.
In 1972 there was a famous discovery of a velociraptor in battle with a protoceratops. This find was influencial in helping paleontologists to both recreate the velociraptor's appearance and also to understand its predicted behaviour.
"Velociraptors were pack hunters. Bump into them in the wild and you wouldn't stand a chance."
