Great North Museum: Hancock
...backNewcastle Upon Tyne, England
The Great North Museum is handily located near the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne. It has a various exhibitions, from natural history to the roman empire. The most interesting section to this writer is the dinosaur exhibition.

Located near the crystals and gems section on the ground floor of the museum, the dinosaur exhibition contains models and fossilised remains of a selection of prehistoric creatures including tyrannosaurus, ichthyosaur and iguanadon.

Amongst the creatures featured in the display is the coelacanth (pronounced so-la-canth), a plump fish which swam Permian seas millions of years ago. It was thought to have been long since extinct, until one was unexpectedly discovered off the South African coast in 1938.
In addition to the dinosaur exhibition there are plenty of other amazing displays to keep you interested throughout your visit. Overall we would say it is an excellent museum and well worth a trip.
